I founded Mexchic in 2006 and closed it 20 years later in 2026.

This archive holds 20 years of past collections and collaborations with my friends, artisans and artists, textile and fiber research, art,

The name Mexchic is derived from a play on words.

“Mexica” in Nahuatl: Mēxihkah, is the autochthonous name for the Aztec civilization.

The way it rolls off one’s tongue sounds similar to Mex + chic hence my invention of a new word, Mexchic. 

Founded in 2006, Mexchic was business which crafted objects with integrity, hovering in the realm of conceptual and artistic. Each piece created was designed, cut, sewn and at times naturally dyed and hand woven in-house. Sustainability, innovation, craft and ethical labor standards were the pillars I built this small business upon while collaborating with Mexican artisans and artists, using centuries old techniques, playfully merging tradition with the contemporary and personal.  Mexchic’s collections were primarily research-based which merged my aesthetics, love of archeology, anthropology and textiles with my personal experiences from having lived and worked in Mexico since the early 2000’s.
